Help your child develop confident, legible capital-letter formation with a complete Capital Letter foundation bundle designed to grow with their skills. The sets in the bundle pair beautifully together. These sets were designed to work hand in hand, with each one building upon the skills introduced in the others. Together, they provide a well-rounded approach to handwriting instruction that helps children develop the essential foundations needed for long term success.

This bundle includes Capital Letter Set 1 and Capital Letter Set 2, giving children a gradual path from guided beginning practice to more focused and independent handwriting. Together, the sets provide multiple line formats, clear stroke directions, starting dots, tracing practice, independent letter formation, phonics reinforcement, and supervised progress checks.

Rather than teaching letters alphabetically, both sets follow a developmental sequence that groups letters with similar strokes. This helps children repeat familiar hand movements, build muscle memory, and gain confidence before moving on to more challenging letter formations.

What Is Included?

Capital Letter Set 1: Beginning Handwriting and Phonics Practice

Set 1 introduces capital-letter formation through large, clearly spaced practice areas and a simple beginning-sound coloring activity at the bottom of each page.

Children trace and write the featured capital letter, then identify and color the pictures that begin with its sound. For example, the capital F page asks children to color the pictures beginning with F.

Set 1 is especially helpful for:

Preschool and kindergarten children
Beginning writers
Children learning letter formation and beginning sounds together
Children who enjoy coloring and picture-based activities
Students who benefit from large, clearly defined writing spaces

Capital Letter Set 2: Focused and More Advanced Practice

Set 2 provides more actual handwriting practice on each page and removes the picture-based coloring activity. Its clean layout makes it a strong choice for older children, children who are ready for more independent writing, or students who become distracted by pictures.

Set 2 includes two complete versions:

Version 1: Traditional Primary Three-Line Format Uses the familiar traditional handwriting lines with a middle guideline.

Version 2: Simplified Two-Line Format Uses a streamlined two-line structure and appears as the second complete version in the resource.

Set 2 is especially helpful for:

Older children who need capital-letter practice
Children who have completed Set 1
Students who need handwriting remediation
Children who are distracted by illustrations
Learners who need additional independent writing space
Students working toward greater consistency and control

Both sets includes two complete versions:

Version 1: Traditional Primary Three-Line Format Uses the familiar top, middle, and bottom handwriting lines. The resource identifies this as the traditional primary three-lined format.

Version 2: Simplified Two-Line Format Uses a clear top-and-bottom line structure for children who benefit from a less visually complex writing area.

A Progressive Handwriting System

These two sets are designed to work together.

Begin with Set 1 when your child needs:

More guided practice
A gentle introduction to letter formation
Beginning-sound reinforcement
More visual support
A motivating coloring activity

Move to Set 2 when your child is ready for:

More independent handwriting
Additional repetitions on each page
A cleaner, less distracting layout
Closer attention to stroke sequence
Parent or teacher observation
More advanced handwriting practice

Children may also use the sets side by side. For example, a child can begin a new letter with Set 1 and then use the matching Set 2 page for additional practice.

Developmental Capital-Letter Order

Both sets teach capital letters by grouping similar strokes together rather than presenting the alphabet from A to Z.

Straight-Line Letters

L, F, E, H, T, I

These letters help children practice controlled vertical and horizontal strokes.

Circular and Curved Letters

U, C, O, Q, G, S, J, D, P, B, R

These letters introduce curves, rounded movements, and combinations of straight and curved strokes.

Diagonal Letters

K, A, N, M, V, W, X, Y, Z

These letters require greater pencil control and visual planning, so they are introduced after children have practiced simpler movements.

Grouping letters by similar movements helps children reuse familiar motor patterns and gradually progress to more complex formations.

Teacher Check Included in Set 2

Each Set 2 worksheet contains a clearly marked Teacher Check area beside a stop sign. The child should stop when they reach this section and wait for a parent or teacher.

The child then writes the final letter while the adult watches. The capital F worksheet, for example, includes the stop sign and Teacher Check section beneath the main practice area.

This allows the adult to see whether the child:

Starts in the correct place
Begins at the top
Uses the correct stroke direction
Follows the proper stroke sequence
Keeps the letter within the writing lines
Forms the letter independently

The adult can print the worksheet again as many times as needed before deciding that the child is ready to move on.

Intentionally Designed in Landscape Format

Both worksheet sets are intentionally created in landscape orientation.

The wider layout provides the additional space that beginning and developing writers often need. It allows the letter models, tracing areas, independent practice spaces, phonics activities, and Teacher Check sections to remain large, clear, and comfortably spaced.

For best results:

Print in landscape orientation
Select one page per sheet
Use Actual Size or 100% Scale
Avoid shrinking the worksheets unnecessarily

Flexible Practice for Individual Learners

Every child develops handwriting skills at a different pace. There is no required number of worksheets that must be completed before moving forward.

Print only the pages and formats your child needs. A child may complete one version, switch formats, repeat a difficult letter, or move between Set 1 and Set 2 as skills develop.

The goal is not immediate perfection. The goal is to help children develop correct, comfortable, and increasingly automatic letter-formation habits through clear instruction and encouraging repetition.
